Not terribly fancy, but functional. Should be automagically updated after each site update.

First to say not bad!

Hopefully this will be helpful when completing FAQs.

Oh, and don't forget, use the Advanced Search (that's the second one at the bottom of the search page) to see a list of games without FAQs/boxshots. Just be sure to select games released "in the past" for a true list of what's missing.

This is awesome, but I REALLY find it unusual that the Wii has more than 50% completion rate for FAQs.

Do games that happen to be under different listings (Such as Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn and FE: Akatsuki no Megami) each count as individual games on the list, or just one?
brian sulpher | Posted 6/29/2007 2:02:41 AM | message detail
The VC games are almost entirely covered on their original systems I would guess... that drives the numbers up methinks.

That would explain it, Brian ;)

Not sure why, but for some reason Redemption is listed as 0/5 for Completed FAQs, yet Skee-Ball has an FAQ/Strategy guide for it (that is complete)

Very cool. I'm not surprised it could be automated, and I am glad to see it is.

I'd be interested if for instance my Battle Lode Runner FAQ is valid for the Wii. I don't know if there is a way to check this, or there could be a way to encourage checking a guide to verify that it is cross platform. That's obviously open to abuse(ie my NES Lode Runner FAQ got linked with the Wii) and probably not worth the time spent, but just in case...

Now back to #78 and #79 for the Apple.

Finally, great work. This is really GameFAQs stuff ;)

How accurate is the data though, as mentioned there might be some errors?

LOL @ Amstrad CPC 1 / 1545

Minor suggestion, how about a percentage after each number? Such as:
NES 977 / 1535 (63.6%)

And are you going to add this to the feature list?

.For the boxshots: Do thumbnails count? I mean if you only have a thumbnail, does it appear in this stat as missing or not?

I don't think so, because I remembered seeing quite a lot of thumbnails for Mobile games, yet it is only recorded as 1/319 in the stats page.

I noticed an arcade game was missing a boxshot. How is this possible?

That's a good question. I used the Advanced search and found the game, it's Derby Owner's Club World Edition:

I once did a test, submitted a photo of the Pong arcade machine. Naturally it was rejected. So there should be some filter (or there is one of sorts) for Arcade, Mobile and Pinball machines among others.

For downloadable games there are often placeholder logos, but I've never tried to submit one myself. I suppose one could mention there is "real" boxshot for the game to get it accepted. Or the system could get tweaked to ignore that release as there is no box, not sure how that would be user submitted.
SubSane | Posted 6/30/2007 6:57:36 PM | message detail
Hmmm... I searched a keyword for games with no box shots released in the past, and many of the results I got did have box shots. May want to check that out.

Now it is. When the thread was first made it was stickied as well, but when I posted it was not sticky. Infact I found this thread on the 2nd page (30 thread per page setting).

When I thread is stickied, it still remains on the list, it just has two links.

Not what I meant. I know it has two threads once stickied. This one was de-stickied, (24 hours ago there was 4 stickied threads, one of which was CJayC's). As I said, I would not have bumped this topic if I knew it wasn't stickied. Maybe there was a glitch with v9 users (which is what I'm still using), but I know there was 4 stickies.

Anyways, this is not worth arguing about at all, so I apologize for the screw up and am ending this small little debate now! :)

It would be nice if the completition regions would get something like a bold font, for example the VirtualBoy for box shots. That and the % as mentioned earlier ;)
StarFighters76 | Posted 7/10/2007 8:02:25 PM | message detail
As well as a total count for all the systems pooled together and a percentage of that (unless it's already been done, I don't pay attention to all the specifics).
