So I got mugged last night

It was 2 a.m. and I was drunk and walking alone through a really dark
catwalk on the other side of town. It's a small town, an
everyone-leaves-their-doors-unlocked kind of place, I didn't think
twice about it. Half way through I suddenly felt someone jump on my back with their arm around my neck and pull me to the ground. I looked up at a guy wearing a black ski mask who said "KSJGHKFJ SFJBSSIU" which I translated in my head to mean "give me the backpack" so I did, and then him and his two buddies who were standing with him, I guess in case I resisted more, took off. So I got up, brushed myself off, looked around, started laughing REALLY hard for whatever reason, and wandered to the nearby 7-11 where the clerk called the cops for me. What was inside the backpack: - Sony 7.2 megapixel digital camera - Sunscreen - Plastic safety glasses - Cheap $5 headphones - Empty bottle of vodka What was in my pockets, that they didn't touch: - iPod - Wallet --- Never stop the car on a drive in the dark... http://www.last.fm/user/A_I_e_x/ |

Yes, I am glad to still be around and living, though honestly aside
from the initial surprise there wasn't much a sense of danger. Given
what I could make out of them and the late-teens-ish voice of the
ringleader, I think it was just a bunch of punk kids looking for some

How much was the camera? I've never been mugged and I grew up in the
ghetto. When you're white and in the ghetto for as long as I was,
people think you're tough as hell and don't mess with you. Thank god

That sucks dude. I've thankfully never directly been a victim of crime;
although I left my digital camera round a friends house before a night
out, and they got burgled with my camera along with it. I've never
bothered to replace it though... for some reason it really put me off

That really sucks, dude. Being mugged is never fun, but it doesn't help
that you were drunk. It's one of the two reasons I won't ever get
drunk. I absolutely hate not being at my fullest. The other reason is
alcohol tastes like piss. >_> Also, Bec, Laughing after a mugging is over is a pretty normal thing to do in my experience. Back when I got mugged and knifed, after it was over I was sitting in the drive-through bleeding and laughing as the employees called the cops and got me water to wash my wounds. When my brother was mugged in the same area he laughed after it was over, though he wasn't harmed. Wow, that still sucks despite their lack of taking your best stuff. Why
is it us Canucks experience the car accidents, robberies, and such

I've been in car accidents, been robbed, and assaulted... got mugged one by two guys, except they weren't too bent on mugging on

I was robbed once. I was drunk on New Year's Eve, forgot something in
the pub we were and went there alone. They beat me up and took my
Olympus Digicam. The worst thing were my parents telling me it was MY

Well, it wasn't your fault. It was obviously the muggers' faults, but
if you weren't drunk, they very well might not have mugged you. Muggers

Random update: I got my backpack back. It was found about half way between where the incident occurred and my house, on some sidestreet. The safety glasses and my chequebook were still inside of it (I hadn't realized the chequebook was in there prior to getting it back, no cheques missing, but I still got my account flagged in case). The camera was gone of course. They took my used deodorant, but left my chequebook. Go figure. I got a call from the police a few days later to go in and be interviewed despite already having given a statement. I soon realized this reason for this was to try and get my version of the story while sober, so see how it matched up, because one of the nice detectives was nice enough to be honest with me, saying there are some cops there who don't believe the mugging actually occurred. One thing he thought was suspicious was that we had been drinking at a place on the side of town where I live, then afterward I decided to walk home with a friend of mine who lives on the opposite end of town, saying goodbye, and walking back to my house. The concept of enjoying a drunken walk with music on a nice summer evening didn't seem to sit too well with him. He apparently ascribes to the school of thought that puts walking as something everybody attempts to avoid doing whenever possible. He thought maybe I was just so drunk I dropped my backpack on the way home and assumed it had been stolen. I have such a vivid memory of the events that did occur, that it kind of pissed me off. There isn't a single shred of doubt in my mind that someone jumped me and took it, it's clear as day. Still, the worst part is with all these questions and skepticism I started to doubt the minor details I thought I remembered before, no matter how sure I was. I honestly don't care whether they find the guys, I just want them to drop it now, I'm sick of the phone calls asking me to go back to the station. Also, I spent more than two years as a die-hard affliction elitest. goback and bring some doughnuts >_> but hey, don't get too involved, when I was at the cops after my accident they wanted my cloth I wore in the night for DNA anylysis and then they wanted my DNA to see which is mine and which isn't. As I refued the offer I shouldn't refuse they got even harder and said, I gues they both were the bad cops now, 'Doyou really want to contribute to this investigation, or not!?' I had some thoughts crossing my mind that I could say at this moment. Then they asked another cop in another room what to do and he said to take the DNA! I said okay, thanks, no, I'm outta here. So there was no investigation but I guess the chances to find the cam are around 0.0000001%. did I mention I don't like cops... --- I don't care who your dad is! I think it was just something I posted while drunk that made no sense and I just deleted the next day. I never did get the camera back (obviously) so I went ahead and bought the next more expensive model of the same camera to at least feel like I upgraded, rather than just replaced.
