Tenth Prolific FAQers Tourney - Coming in July

Guess this will be the official announcement topic for the upcoming
tourney. Pretty much all of you know how these run by now, so it
shouldn't be new to anyone. ;) Of course, if anyone has any questions,
comments, or suggestions, feel free to bring them on and they will be
handled as needed. The tourney will begin on or around July 1st, and it will be a 64-person bracket. That said, whoever the top 64 prolifics (ranked by KB) are at that point will be on the bracket. Bodo: So the top 64 prolific authors are stuck in a contest like the Character Contests the poll of the day does. Each day there is a new matchup and we vote for who we think is the best author. | Isn't it a little biased though? As some people will vote for friends and for reasons other than the FAQ quality. |

We're generally pretty good at not doing that. Only exception I can think of is that (take last year, for example) I managed to rile up an argument because I commented on the fact that I won't vote for someone who plagiarized in the past, no matter how good their work is. That's not a unanimous feeling, but I wouldn't say that it's "biased." --- Signatures that consist of quotes are bizarre- you could falsify a quote and no one would know.-Jesus |

Oh there have been examples of "block voting" in the past, but it
generally does not happen (for instance, I have voted many times
against friends like Trace Jackson or Colin Moriarty since I felt their

It hasn't been a yearly event up until the last couple years. It used
to be run 4 times a year originally. This is the tenth installment of

Well, the place was a lot more active in 2003 (when the tourney was 4
times a year), so it made sense. The only reason we changed it to twice
and then once a year, was because there was little movement on the
ranks between tourneys, and it just got too repetitive. I figure after
a year, there will be significant enough change on the list to generate
excitement and a not-so-predictable outcome. Sure, the usual handful
will make it far (when do they not?), but with a whole lot of new faces

As a final note, if anyone is planning on moving up in the ranks or
anything, make sure it's posted by the end of the day on Friday (June
