| Introduction |
|
GameFAQs exists solely due to the thousands of contributors that have submitted
guides to the site freely over the past six years. Now, it's time for some
payback.
The Contributor of the Month award is given to the contributor whose guides have
made the biggest impact to the site over the course of any given month by being
the most-read files on the site.
The Contributor of the Month ended in December 2001. Congratulations to all winners, and thanks
for making GameFAQs as popular as it is today!
Prizes for the 2001 year are as follows:
Contributor of the Month: $300 Online Gift Certificate
Second Prize: $200 Online Gift Certificate
Third Prize: $100 Online Gift Certificate

| Official Rules |
- These rules may be altered at any time without advance notice as the contest
proceeds and conditions warrant. Rule changes will be outlined at the bottom of
this page with a summary of changes and the date of change.
- The COTM award is granted based on the number of unique, nonconsecutive hits
on a contributor's files from IP addresses that are referred directly from
another GameFAQs page. Consecutive hits from the same IP address and hits that
are referred directly from another site to a contributed file are discarded in all
counts. The methods of tabulation may be changed at any time to ensure that
no fraudulent hits are counted towards the contest.
- No purchase is necessary to win. Entries must be submitted via E-mail or FTP
following all required standards at the GameFAQs FAQ Author's Guide located at
http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/contribute/howtowrite.html.
- By submitting a FAQ, the author does not have to clearly state his
or her intentions to enter it in the contest, but a valid e-mail
address must be supplied in order for GameFAQs to contact the entrant.
- By submitting a FAQ to GameFAQs, the author is still retaining
ownership and control of the document, but is licensing the guide to be
permanently available from the GameFAQs web site at no charge.
- The contest winner has the choice of a Gift Certificate from either
an online store or a retail eletronics, game, toy, or department store.
Due to legal reasons, only residents of the United States and Canada can
be mailed any prizes. Winners that live outside of the US and Canada may elect
to have their gift certificate awarded to any other US or Canada resident or
donated to charity.
- To ensure that the COTM awards are given out to as many eligible contributors
as possible, no contributor may win any COTM award in consecutive months, and
no contributor may win more than the equivalent of two first prize awards in any
calendar year.
- Only FAQs still available on GameFAQs at the time the award is made are eligible
to be counted toward a contributor's totals. For the retroactively awarded prizes,
this means only FAQs still available on GameFAQs as of March 1, 2001.
- If any prizes are not claimed within 90 days of the award, the prize will
not be awarded, and the money will go towards this and other future GameFAQs contests.
- FAQs submitted for the contest (and to GameFAQs in general) must consist of
original content. No content may be copied directly from other sources without
permission of the original author, and if an outside source is used as
a reference material, it must be clearly credited. GameFAQs has the
right to declare any and all entries null and void if there is any valid suspicion
of plagiarism or copyright infringement in any file submitted.
- The odds of winning depend upon the number of FAQs submitted to the site
and the popularity of those FAQs. Neither GameFAQs nor any of its sponsors or
clients shall be responsible for last, late, misdirected, or incomplete entries.
Prizes are nontransferable and no substitutions will be allowed except at the
sole discretion of GameFAQs.
- Prizes for winners under the age of 18 years will be awarded to the winner in
care of his or her parent or legal guardian. This contest is open to residents of
the United States and Canada only. Entrants from outside of the US or Canada
may be compensated for their entries in an alternate manner, as is allowed by
law in the country in question. Return of any prize or prize notification as
undeliverable will result in disqualification and alternate winners will be
selected. Winners may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility/release of
liability/prize acceptance within seven days of receipt; failure to do so upon
request will result in forfeiture of the prize. By acceptance of the prize,
winners agree to the use of their name and/or likeness for purposes of
advertising, trade, or promotion without further compensation, unless prohibited
by law.
- Neither GameFAQs nor its clients or sponsors are responsible for any damages
or expenses that winners might incur as a result of this contest or the receipt
of any prize. Winners are responsible for paying any income taxes on the value of
the prize received. Void where prohibited by law.
