It makes it easier for me to count (so I don't have to figure out why you only have three votes) Alright, now for round two (officially!)! We're taking four writers and narrowing them down to two. Haha. Sorry about doing the second round for Division 1 already, Trace. I just misunderstood that little rule. Abstain for obvious reasons. 14 - Dalez --- Game Collection: http://club.ign.com/b/list/custom?&lid=100018&owner=PeTeRL90&mode=vown |

Oh no, like I said it's totally my fault, and I really appreciate you
filling in for me. I was just recapping for the folks who missed it so
they would know what was going on. To reiterate, I really really
appreciated it. Almost to the point to where I called you by the right
digits. Then I changed my mind. --- Randomize() "Women are like Voltron - the more you can hookup, the better it gets." | Y.T.W.S.R - I.W.W.H.T.Q |

Anyways, my reasons and critiques; Ktm - for your larger dividers, I recommend that you make them full-length instead of 70 or so characters. They just look so odd and out of place when they're slightly shorter than your end margin. The same comment I gave to SS earlier about dividers also applies to you. Two of the things that I REALLY dislike about your walkthroughs are a) You only have a major section divider for the start of your walkthrough, and nothing in between for individual chapters of each game (take for example, FF3 especially, which has a really open second half; there is NO way I am going to try and take the time to find the section for say Kefka's Tower in there when I could open up another walkthrough, find the section for Kefka's Tower conveniently located under the walkthrough in the Table of Contents, punch in a search code and be there right away), and b) It's just walkthrough. You should try to fit in an item list for each area at the very least (if not that, then capitalizing the items you can pick up would be very handy). Back to your FF3 walkthrough again, I am sure that you could also try to fit some if not all of your monster list, item list, and equipment list into charts, and /or shorten the sheer scroll of each listing (I mean, 20+ lines per item is ridiculous). Some final stuff on formatting; get your table of contents centralized or left-aligned. It looks really ridiculous right-aligned like that. Lastly, for when you have your major dividers, and you have three lines of | at either side, I recommend that you trim the top and bottom | off. Looks much neater. PeTeRL50/90 - Taking a starting look off at your DDS FAQ, a few initial comments; first off, two line breaks is usually recommended between sections, as it looks neat that way (if you can pull it off, one line break also looks good). You do NOT need FOUR LINE BREAKS COMPLETE WITH A LINE OF DASHES. Look at it, and you might see that it needs to have a little less space. Another thing; in your character bios, when you're doing your individual points on each character, if you are only using a - once, don't bother using it at all. It just looks a bit tacky when it is only used once ever (this I actually find a problem in a number of your FAQs). Boss strategies can also be a lot more elaborated on; for example, looking at Asura Hayagriva (the first boss), I believe you can probably get away without using Void Fire for a few turns, then once he hits half HP, he uses a hit-all technique, wherein you should then switch to using Void Fire. Also, you don't need two lines of dashes on either side of a boss strategy when you already have the boss's name highlighted, underlined, and then followed directly by the strategy (especially when you already have a lot of line breaks to keep it from the main walkthrough). One last thing - legal stuff, version history, contacts, all that fun stuff, keep it at the bottom, please. Introduction and dedications are fine and in fact make it look professional if at the top (but below the Table of Contents). And finally, a few of your FAQs, you can probably cut down the paragraph size (Tales of the Abyss, maybe Shadow Hearts: FtNW). And lastly, PLEASE start using search codes more often. Always a pain without them. More stuff for the next two authors forthcoming (I wouldn't be able to fit it in anyways into this post :D) |

For the match-up between TripleJump and Dalez, I compared Tales of Symphonia and Breath of Fire IV FAQs. TripleJump: plz get rid of all the excessive asterisks and dots at the start of the FAQ. They really look annoying. Please also insert line breaks in between some of the paragraphs in your walker, cut some of your large paragraphs into smaller chunks, and come up with a neater separator than a line of asterisks. Also, I know that a lot of your lists are incomplete, but please, PLEASE, PLEASE don't insert like ten gajillion empty listings until you finally decide to fill them in. Just like put the side section header and a couple of empty listings in. And yeah, the walkthrough is too ridiculously bloated with plot details. Not very many people are going to want to read it, especially when you put in a giant spoiler warning at the top. And since you asked, I'm not giving you a full critique. Dalez: Much of the content is VERY neat and very tidy, but the formatting bluntly sucks. Both the asterisk dividers (as mentioned above in TripleJump's critique) and the ### headers are very annoying, and could have something much neater to replace them with. A little less story commentary as well, please. Line breaks in the early sections on controls, general mechanics and combat would also be nice. And, as always, having version updates + a giant massive email contact notice and legal crap BEFORE the ToC = bad. |
