For now, if you're on the list (yes, any list), you'll be ad-free by the end of the night. It's a temporary thing, and we'll probably re-visit who's prolific and not in a few months, but this is my way of saying "Please don't leave just because of the redesign". Which, if you're a prolific contributor, you very probably weren't going to do anyway. So it's incentive for others to contribute more. :)

You're probably not going to come back to read this post, but eh...

When you say all prolifics will be ad-free, does that mean we won't have the choice to keep the ads? It might sound like an odd request, but a quick browse of my contributor page tells me that I bought eight of the thirteen games I've written guides for in the last two years solely because I saw them advertised on GameFAQs. Without the ads, I likely would've never even heard of most of those games, so if at all possible, I'd prefer the option to keep my ads. Otherwise, I'll miss out on a bunch of obscure games that I'd be likely to write guides for in the future. >_>

This may be just me, but why now? Why couldn't you give contributers ad-less Gfaqs before? Because now the contributers realize the power they've got in their hands, and can basically make your site worthless.
I think the contributers should reject the new layout and obvious push towards a merge with GS, you can just change the colors and we're basically the same as GS. Just look at the logo... Give the users what they want, the old layout and stop trying to merge us with GS.

^ He might have only done this now because he didn't plan an add free GameFAQs in the past? What's the point of coding it then so a handful of people had no adds. He's doing this now as he's got to do it eventually anyway.

Will normal users have to put up with a **** ton of ads? And will normal users also lose features? Because if so, I'm going to pack my bags now and find another site. I've been loyal to Gamefaqs since about 2001. Five years, man. I've had alot of fun here. I honestly don't WANT to leave, but I will if this damn update doesn't straighten out soon.

I think I speak for the masses when I ask for a few things (feel free to change/add/etc. anything on here)


- Give us a GOOD 9.0 skin.
- Give us classic back.
- Move this ****ing ad from the top back to the side.
- DON'T. GO. PREMIUM.
- Don't pull another 6/3 on us, man. You'll lose alot from us.
- Don't fold to CNet's ideals.



Those're top of my head kinda things.

Find a way to not see ads. On this day and age on the Internet, there is no need to pay/do anything special to see ad-free sites everywhere. I never see ads on this webpage, EVER.

This'll probably cost me a lot of karma, but it'll be worth it. CJay, it's not the ads that are getting everybody complainig. It's CNet. It's becoming MiniSpot. It's the fact that people who pay for a no ads service are going to get more benefits (other than no ads) than others. You can't smooth this over with some "free ads-free site" junk. Turn back.

So Cyjay, this is basically a way to have people turn against that petition right? To give people a reason to actually continue to contribute. I can't believe people actually fell for this. At least give us our old view back. What ever happened to the statement in my quote? And I thought this was the site I would be staying at.
