So, I can probably go to '06's E3.
From: Bree hunter | Posted: 12/31/2005 6:32:14 AM | Message Detail
The last 3 years I couldn't get in as I either wasn't 18 or had other commitments, despite the fact that my best friend's brother has offered us tickets every year. Apparently he works for the media that covers it or something and through some crap or other could get us full access, though I'm not sure how it would work. Probably us ending up toting stuff for him.

but anyways I may be able to come this year, which will undoubtedly be cool, particularly as I'm aching for news of the Revolution.

So, who normally goes?

Trust me, if I had the money for lodging and plane tickets and E3 Tickets, I'd be going every year.

Ever since I read about E3 back in Nintendo Power many moons ago, I've always wanted a trip to it.

Sadly, no money means no trips.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, myself, Chad (BTB), and another FCBer (possibly Trace, we'll see) will be there.

For the past few years, I probably could have gone but for one thing: such trips take money I don't have. Certainly, I could easily get in this year, if not for the same reason.

Venter, an 8 hour drive doesn't sound that hard!

I imagine I could probably handle it financially this year, however acquiring a ticket and arranging transportation might prove more trouble than they're worth. On the other hand I so rarely take trips, and it's not often one gets a chance to meet his duplicate. Perhaps I'll see how things pan out over the next couple of months.

A I e x, on the E3 site, thye have package deals where if you book a hotel room via their site, it comes with free shuttle service to and from the show each day. That's how we've been doing it these last two years of going.

Also, for anyone thinking they might try this, BUYING your way in is absolutely worthless. For one, it costs way too much to get an "Exhibition Only" pass (somewhere in the vicinity of $500 USD, which means you only see what's on the floor and nothing else (those of us with the Media passes got the free stuff with little effort, among other things). It's just not worth it unless you're going as a member of the press or a representative of one of the actual companies.

Hmm, sorry about the typos in the previous post. The keyboard I'm using totally sucks, and the actual computer is sorta slow (I'm in Florida at the moment, not at NJIT). :/

I'd go if it wasn't for the plane costs.

Like everyone else has said, I would go but I just haven't got the cash. I'm already well in debt after my first uni semester.

I enjoyed going last year, but it is not in the cards or finances for me in the next few years at the very least.

Yeah, "exhibits only" people are chumps. Just ask Devin what us media folk do when one of them challenges our superiority >.>

What kind ticket of availibility do most say, game sites or magazine publishers get? If they chose to do so, would they have the option of sending their entire staff, or are they strictly limited to a certain quantity? This is just out of curiosity of course, it still stands that barring unforseen (favourbale) circumstances, I'll be cheering from the sidelines. I have no intention of opting for the $500.00 basic package ;)

I may go considering I have some money loafing around after two full-time summers. Basic package.

I'll be there.

I went when I was 16 and 17... Dunno how hard they are now, but they're stupid most years. I got my girlfriend in on an article with my name on it.

It's a good time for a day, and if it's all paid for. Taking extra time and money to get there doesn't seem to be worth the effort.
