Winter 2004 Prolific FAQ Writers' Tournament

• Bracket was done according to rankings of the 128 current eligible prolifics as of 20:00 Eastern, on December 29, 2003.
  
  
• There are 128 people total this time around, making this a HUGE tourney! They are split into 8 divisions of 16 people in each. We'll go through each division, one at a time. Each division starts with 16 people; after round 1, 8 will be left. After round 2, there will be 4, and so on, until there is a division winner. Then we'll move on to the next division and run through those rounds. Eventually we will end up with 8 people (one winner for each division; 4 matchups). There will then be 4 left over. A semi-finals match will ensue, so we end up with the final round between 2 people. Voting for the tourney's champion will take place in this round.
  
  
• As a note for this entire tourney, there is to be NO SPAM/DOUBLE VOTING. If I suspect you are cheating, I'll look into it and if I find you guilty, your vote(s) for that point onward are void, and if you are a prolific writer in the actual competition, you may possibly have forfeited your chance in the runnings by cheating. Remember that.
  
  
• Every night, the next round of the tourney will start around 10pm (22:00) Eastern (7pm Pacific). Each round will last approximately 24 hours, ending at 10pm the following night. Keep in mind that all votes must be placed between the time it was started, until 22:00 Eastern, which is when voting comes to a close. Any votes placed after 22:00 are void; no exceptions.
  
  
• Only users with registered contributor pages may vote (those with a CRP linked in their profile). It would be preferred you have 1+ FAQ(s) posted, so as to give you better judgement on other writers' work. If you don't have a CRP, your votes are void. For those of you with alternate accounts, don't worry about using your "main" to vote; just as long as I can prove who you are, and that you have a CRP with stuff on it, you're fine. Anybody is welcome to vote. Just keep in mind that I will be checking out suspicious looking accounts or votes (this does include fishing through post histories of said users), as well as anyone I feel doesn't normally belong at the board, to prevent rigging of this tourney. Also, the tournament host as always, is Devin Morgan (me). I will be able to vote again in this tourney, just not in my own matchups. My purpose as host is to ensure the tourney moves smoothly and without incident.
  
  
• When voting, it is appreciated that you copy and paste the day's matchups and keep the names you vote for, as listed in the bracket. That way, vote tallying goes that much quicker.
  
  
• No self-voting. This should go without saying, but for those who need it spelled out for them, it's here.
  
  
• For every round past the first one, it is required of you to post a reason for each of your votes. It's not mandatory for Round 1, but it would be a good idea if you did; that isn't asking too much. Remember that it really isn't asking a whole lot more than 5-10 minutes of your time to do some research and form tangible opinions that way. The idea behind this is to help stop stray/spam votes, or people who vote on popularity only. I know I can't stop everyone who still does that, but I can try my best to. Please note that this tourney is based on the overall quality of one's work over the other ONLY, nothing else. While I can't show bias against a person's votes, I have good faith that your votes and reasons are honest. However, if I feel your reason is a bit iffy, or "fake", I can and will be asking you to elaborate before the round ends. If you don't, consider it void. I only had to do this once or twice that I can recall last time, so vote honestly!
  
  
• This should go without saying, but the purpose of this tourney is to judge the prolific writers by the quality of their work only. I do understand that you may not know every person on this bracket (I don't either), but that's what the CRP links are for; familiarize yourself with new work and make judgements that way. Everyone deserves a fair chance, and I hope those who come out to vote will do so with that spirit in mind.
  
  
• No posting vote tallies in any form, anywhere in the tourney. I didn't think this had to really be stated, but it's meant to keep those who have yet to vote, from having a biased edge against/for a given match, etc. The only tally that should be done is the one I do myself nightly at the end of each round. Respect that wish, as it is disruptive in my eyes if you do one prematurely. Thanks.
