| Do your other hobbies get in the way of FAQwriting? |

Aside from FAQwriting, I also draw and write. I don't consider myself very good at any of them (sorry as it sounds, I'm probably best at FAQwriting). But, I know writing or drawing would be more likely to lead to a career than strategy guides.
I try to spend some time writing creatively, but I'm continentally slow. It took me thirteen months to write a short story that ended up being 55 pages long, ten font, single spaced. I'm currently in the ninth month of my latest story, which is in page SIX of its second draft (Draft 1 made it to page 11 or so before I started over).
I haven't done anything truly constructive with art in a long time; ideas for funny comics pop up and fade quickly. I also long ago stopped making political cartoons as I learned the true purpose of them (they do not serve to show a viewpoint on an issue or to educate; they are there to piss off people and sell newspapers like the rest of the editorial page). I've refused to give up, seeing my twin brother stop in ninth grade and falling drastically behind, so I am improving incrementally. It's just all I can come up with are doodles for a folder and not much else.
I wish I could just hunker down and get all the dead FAQs out of my system, but I don't want to neglect my other hobbies (even though I do anyway).

Now, I have something to think of.
My first reaction to that was: "Watching wrestling isn't a hobby."
Then I thought: "And watching movies IS?"
Now, I have to either concede that watching bad actors on steroids fondle each other can be considered a hobby, or figure out why it is not.
Hmm... I wish my mind worked less rhetorically. I hate feeling something, then going to figure out why it is I feel that way.
How was it said, "You didn't come here to make the choice; you've already made it. Now, you're trying to understand WHY you made it."

I always defined a hobby as an activity you choose to spend your time doing. Therefore, watching movies and wrestling are both hobbies.
Watching wrestling used to be my major (and I mean MAJOR) hobby, until a few years ago. Now I tend to be a big sports fan, watching cricket and football in their respective seasons, and I've always been a big lover of music. I consider listening to music to be a hobby, even if most people don't.
For a while I dabbled in writing, I stopped when I realized how much I suck at it. I don't have much artistic talent whatsoever, so pursuits like that are pretty pointless for me. I do enjoy taking on technical pursuits like computer programming, however, though that's related to my education and might not be considered a hobby...
Anyways, back on track, none of my hobbies really take away from each other. I don't see how hobbies can, because you choose to spend your hobby time how you wish. If you believe one is taking away from the other, then simply do the other. Isn't it that simple? --- [ #73 ] Push button to turn on. Karpah, take my advice; don't give up something because you're bad at it. Give up when it stops being fun. If you keep at it, whatever it is, you'll get better. --- No matter what they say, or what threats they make, or wars they start, always, always, always, MAKE 7UP YOURS!! |

King Kool, I do the same, though, minus short stories, but I'm a rather good artist, I guess. But your hobbies sound similar to mine.

1) Much love for Sulpher. He says what we all feel. *gives thumbs up*
2) Watching wrestling used to be my major (and I mean MAJOR) hobby, until a few years ago. Now I tend to be a big sports fan, watching cricket and football in their respective seasons, and I've always been a big lover of music. I consider listening to music to be a hobby, even if most people don't.
AAARRRGGGHHH! Wrestling does not classify as a sport. Sport is an actual competition, where people really do battle against each other. It's not a play or a scripted TV show, like wrestling is.
3) None of my hobbies get in the way. All my other hobbies take precedence, as do the more important aspects of my life, over FAQ writing. FAQing is a nice little addictive hobby that I enjoy on occasion, when I have time with nothing to do. I enjoy playing football (or what ya'll call "socker"), watching football, watching rugby league, and cricket on occasion. I used to play golf, but I'm not good at it any more, so I gave it up. |

As for hobbies, I agree with Steve (*ducks into cover*), you just do what you feel like. If I don't want to write, I'll go make some music or play games or whatever. --- No sheep were harmed during the making of this sig FAQ's: 6 Current FAQ: Ratchet and Clank 2 |

I guess you've never seen wrestling in the Olympics. There aren't any good guys and bad guys. There are no giant steroid Roys doing ballet moves on the referee because he didn't like the call. There are no proclamations that "Continent Of Terror will bring the pain, Nancy Drew!" in the mics. There aren't even any really hot athlete girls grabbing another girl to assist 11 year old boys into puberty.
It's quite dull, Olympic wrestling. It's just two guys grappling, trying to advance the opponent out of the court. How dull. How bourgeois. How... unmarketable.

WWE wrestling is predetermined, but most of the action that takes place in the ring is legitimate, save for a few "spots" each match that are planned before hand. Exactly. So therefore, it isn't a sport. Sport is a contest, and WWE wrestling is not a contest. It's basically just a TV show. --- SmarterChild [AIM Bot]: "You should drown yourself." |

Uh, oh, I started a debate. Let's clear this up real fast by reading my post over again.
Watching wrestling used to be my major (and I mean MAJOR) hobby, until a few years ago.
Then...
Now I tend to be a big sports fan, watching cricket and football in their respective seasons, and I've always been a big lover of music. I consider listening to music to be a hobby, even if most people don't.
