What are you talking about? I've entered all my recently completed FAQ's into the FotM competition.

OK. I've just lost a good amount of respect for some people.
Well, it depends on just when you started it. Say you started it in January. You would be able to enter it ONLY in January and February's FotM.

See, in the olden days fo teh FotM, it depended what month it was completed in. So, Zoop would have been fine under the old rules, but I guess the new rules are kind of screwy in that regard.

Meh, no kidding. I've got a guide that I haven't even posted yet, just so that it's eligible for two tournaments.

Ahh, now I understand. Guess that means either holding onto guides until they are completed or being quick about finishing older guides.

Meh, yeah, that's why I'm going to keep all my FAQ's on the hard drive until they're finished from now on, unless I know it's likely not large enough to really get in for the FotM.
Come to think, would CJayC update all the files and reviews before he does the FotM and RotM? And in addition, if I entered my FAQ now, would he look at this version of the FAQ, or an updated version?

Well, it's a ****ty situation, really. You'd think that Ceejay would allow full circle FAQs for when they're finished. Poor FFXI writers will be screwed due to that. Regardless, the Ghoulies guide was definitely up there for the award, as it's the only one in existence--literally. But now, it's ruined... Hmph.

The problem is that there's no tracking of the "status change" of a guide for when it's complete. Basically, I want to prevent people from updating a guide every month, then entering it into the FOTM until it wins.

There's got to be a way to fix this. Let me investigate.

You could have it so that an FAQ could only be entered in one or two tournaments max, instead of letting it be entered whenever it's updated.

So CJayC has to choose FAQs based on the first version submitted? That does indeed suck.

First and foremost, I got Ceejay to post in my topic. You should all reward me with hugs. Or money. I'll accept chocolates, as well, as long as caramel is involved.

Secondly, I concur with me frog's idea. It sounds like the best solution, if at all possible.

On a serious note, I'm happy that you're looking into this, Ceejay. Somebody's bound to come along with a masterpiece that isn't complete for four months, and get snubbed to the max otherwise. So thanks for looking into it, we all appreciate it.

Now you know why I always do one FAQ at a time, and submit them when they're 100% complete...

I remember I wanted to get a certain KB goal before new year's. So I submitted Magic Candle III/Bloodstone. And am just about to finish them...would've liked to put them into the contest, but oh well.

How about you make a link to the CRP and you can check off all guides that you want to enter, and once you enter the guide once, it blocks out the check box. I dunno if that'd be simple or hard to program and what not but I thought I'd throw my ring into the hat.

Also cjay- I sent in the guide that's been rejected so many times again today, Please don't disapoint me.

"Ceej, maybe you can only allow it in the month that it's finished?"

Then people will keep updating each month with their "improved" "final" version.

I started writing my one FAQ June of 2003, and it's still not finished. I thought my previous update would be the last, but a lot of new information has come my way that I have to include sometime.

Just a story to show that some guides are never "finished."

Then people will keep updating each month with their "improved" "final" version.

Not necessarily. If CJayC logs the first date we send a FAQ in(as he's doing now) he can just as easily log the first date we send a full-circle FAQ in and base official contest entry times around that. It'd just require a small coding finesse I bet.

^^What Andrew said. And no, I'm almost certain that Ceejay does not look at your initial version of the guide. What I said was that you cannot submit an entry for an FAQ that has been on the site, unfinished or not, after a couple of months. If you can enter the guide, Ceejay will look at whatever the current version is. Of course, this is speculation, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but it only seems logical.

I'm just happy that the issue is being worked out, hopefully in time for myself and Andrew to be in the running. Best of luck, if so. You're busting your behind on it, that's for certain.

Nah, I'd say I'd be the perfect example of that... ;) Nevertheless, with the new format, and some new content, all but 4 of my guides are all done now.
