And now our 8th tournament has come to an end...

It really did go quick, huh? But at any rate, after a good couple weeks
of close matchups across the board, we have a winner. The winner of the
eighth edition (and a previous champion as well) of my prolific's
tourney is Brian Sulpher. Congrats pal!
The final bracket can be found here: http://web.njit.edu/~dbm7/pbracket8.htm
There's really not too much else to say here, apart from thanks for the great turnout all throughout the tourney. Of course this one didn't go without incident either, but we've come to expect that every time a tourney is in progress. Maybe next year it'll be better.
Speaking of which, should the tourney still continue to be an annual event ONLY, or would it be better off hosted twice a year, or what? Feel free to discuss that and anything else regarding the tournament here. But until next time, it's been fun... :)

Seeing as how my time is limited, I'll say a few things;
I believe the tourney should be semi-yearly. Having it once a quarter made it so that there were hardly any changes in the bracket ranks and there was hardly any new work. Having a year between meant a major exchange of ranks, and at the same time, past matches between two authors have gone the other way. I suggest semi-yearly because it'd be nice to see the competition twice a year (one a year seems too long IMO), and if that doesn't work out, it can always be changed back to annually.

Congratulations Brian! A well deserved victory, and also well done to Devin for being a finalist.
About the tournament, it has gone really fast and it's been great to see it back again. Twice a year would be great, although like last time when it was regular there was the problem that it became too samey. Perhaps you could exclude certain winners (ie. those who win two or three times, or like the summer character tourney, give them their own bracket).

Congratulations to Brian!
For the tournament, keep it to once a year. It'd be so much better that way.

Congratulations!
I wouldn't mind either way. Although I do think twice a year might be a good idea.

I think semiannually is the way to go. Six months is more than enough
time for an author to improve. Every three months was too close
together - the setup really didn't give an author a ton of time to
write. Every year just seems longer than it should be.
Oh, and congrats Brian!

Exclusion, while beneficial to the other participants at first glance, defeats the purpose of determing who the best writer is.

Congratulations, Mr. Sulpher!
Yes, I agree; six months is the way to go. Also, as redundant as they may be, I am in favor of reasons provided at least from the third round on, possibly earlier.

Big congrats, Brian. You deserve it.
I think Brian should be out of the next tournament and face the winner of the next one (like the GameFAQs Character Battle IV is doing it).
I also think non-FAQers ought to be able to vote again, since tourneys aren't as huge a deal as they used to be.

Congrats, pal.
I say annually.
Also, I think we should do the tournament of champions idea.

I like the tournament of champions idea, and I think semi-annually would be the best. Great tourney.

I think CVX is right. Not very many people voted considering how much
traffic GameFaqs message boards get, and perhaps we could let
non-contributors vote. I mean, you don't need to write a guide to know
when one's good. It's like not being able to say a movie is good
because you never made one.

I am truly awed that I was propelled to the top again (for a third
time), particularly when facing three tough match-ups at the end.
-Steve, I think if you and I face off six more times, one of us ends up with four wins, the other three. It is just that close, so I look forward to the next match-up being as much of a nail biter.
-Devin, I thought for sure our match-up would be as close as my previous one, but a nice surprise I guess.
-Adrenaline, that match does not reflect how awesome you are as a writer. The score definitely does not reflect my own personal opinion.
Thanks to anyone and evewryone who voted in this tourney with their heads, not their hearts. I really have no thoughts on what to do with the next tourney, but I am sure the board will be able to help Devin compile a new approach to improve an ever evolving tourney.

Congrats to everyone who participated in the tournament. Good Job on the win Brian!
I think Semi-Annual would be the way to go. Annual, it just to long apart.
