He's stolen my THUG FAQ, I told him not to, and now he's been emailed about it. What are my chances?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you're referring to the triple-C site...

I'd say your chances are near zero.

Oh don't worry about it.

1. It's a .com name.
2. It has "cheat" in it.
3. The last two letters are the same as the first letter.

One of you should send a "big name" (ie first one out for a large game) to the US copyright office. Sue him for big bucks then.
From: Scooter McDue | Posted: 11/15/2003 8:10:13 PM | Message Detail
Or, if anyone has money to spare and feels like taking a chance, write a FAQ and send it through the US copyright office. Then, if he takes it, you can sue him a lot easier and for a lot more.

(Someone copy this and paste it for each further use)

If you believe that your copyright in any material has been infringed on a site, send a "DMCA Notice" described below to their host for Notice of Claims of Copyright Infringement. Once they receive a complete DMCA Notice, it's almost a sure thing it'll be pulled. If a host gets enough notices, they might just get the hint.

Federal law requires your DMCA Notice to include the following information:

* Identification of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed;
& Identification of the material, including URL, that you claim is infringing, with enough detail so that we may locate it;
& Your address, telephone number, and e-mail address
A statement declaring under penalty of perjury that (a) you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law, (b) the above information in your notice is accurate, and (c) you are the owner of the copyright interest involved or you are authorized to act on behalf of that owner; and
Your physical or electronic signature.

The host in question appears to be Inflow.net. A fax to them will likely get your work pulled ASAP.

How are triple-C when they ask for permission for a FAQ? Is it easy to update it there and so on?

How are triple-C when they ask for permission for a FAQ?

They (he) acts like an ass.

Is it easy to update it there and so on?

No, almost impossible. He just slaps a guide on there and forgets about it, and that's why some FAQ writers here get daily e-mail complaints about outdated information in FAQs.

Bleh.

He's polite when ASKING permission. But just wait till you say he can't use it. I denied him my F-Zero FAQ, he put it up anyway. And then, seeing as how I wouldn't let him use any of my FAQs, he went up and took my Mario Golf FAQ and posted it without even bothering to ask me.

I refused him to post my DBZ: LOG2 FAQ in the summer and surprise, it wasn't posted. (Don't go look at the FAQ page on C now, because I gave him permission last month.)

I've never been to *******.com. But I'll never go there, I'm on GameFAQ's side. They did email me to post up my Triple Play 2002 FAQ on their site, and I said no, and they did. And they better not steal my Ultimate Doom Walkthrough, I put a lot of work and effort into that guide.
From: Fricker | Posted: 11/26/2003 11:45:32 AM | Message Detail
I used to visit triple c to view walkthroughs and I realised they came from here.(which is what led me here) Justin I saw your guide there the other day infact, i should have mentioned it.

I've noticed if you don't specifically say "don't put this FAQ on your ****ing site" in your file a certain someone will just assume they can throw it up on their website without asking...
