Congrats to Deflux for a fine 35-25 victory in yesterdays match!! Voting turnout was excellent, and they made it clear who their favourite was. Already, Bobby M. must be considered a good tip for winning the whole thing after such a resounding win against another well respected FAQer. Hopefully, today should prove no different, with three matches for your delectation.

Have fun reading these. Some of these are excellent examples of FAQing that even some of the oldies could maybe take note from! One or two of these matches could be VERY close indeed.. others maybe not so close, but that's where you all come in..

Right, I'll just post the scorecard and voting will be underway. Voting closes tomorrow at 2:00PM CST.

I'll post the scorecard in the next post and we'll be ready to roll! :)

NPFWT Scorecard
-----------------------------

Jagged Jim 1 - 2 Legomondo

[Didn't like Jagged Jim's format. Info seems good]

[Leogomondo has nice ASCII, nice format, content gets the thumbs up too]

Rockin N Deep 1 - 2 namod65

[Rockin N Deep has ok ASCII at the top, the format is ok, content... quite good]
(The address for Rockin N Deep's FAQ is missing a / between "console" and "ps2")

[First thing that popped out in front of me in namod65's FAQ was a blatant spelling mistake - "Beginnig Stuff
". But nice format, and good content otherwise]

MTincher 2 - 1 Syonyx

[In MTincher's FAQ, I kept seeing where there should be a space..."SAVE: Saves the current game."... is it deliberate? It looks weird...]

[Syonyx... not a nice format, but good info]

If you must comment, please can you do it underneath the scorecard? It's a nightmare having to count the votes otherwise ;_;

NPFWT Scorecard
-----------------------------

Jagged Jim 0 - 3 Legomondo

Rockin N Deep 2 - 1 namod65

MTincher 2 - 1 Syonyx

Match 1
There's just too variations between all the different types of dividers that were used in Jim's guide. Try to limit the variation to 3 at the absolute most or it gets very messy looking.

Legomondo makes me want to own a Gamecube [again] with this guide. A few format styles that I found hard to read, but the walkthrough itself was top notch.

Match 2
Rockin N Deep's guide was very good. The ASCII was clear and easy to read, the walkthrough was easy to understand and even the enemy list was well laid out and extremely clear to navigate through.

Namod suffers from something that almost every other writer suffers from, a HUGE version history/update section. Would it not be better for the reader if these were condensed once they reached a certain length? That's not a direct remark towards you Namod, just a general observation. I've seen guides with almost 2 pages of version history before now. The walkthrough itself contains great info, but It just looks wrong somehow with the extended dividers when the text of the header is firmly rooted to the far left of the screen. Items like "Forces Of Good" are what I am referring to. Sorry if I sound like I'm dumping on your guide, it's not intentional.

Match 3
Michael, I was not expecting to met square in the 'eye' with ASCII as in-your-face as that! Made me lurch back in my chair when I opened it up originally. Layout is great, info even more so. Love the double 'E' markers on the dividers, nice artistic touch.

Synoyx, the info in your guide is good, but the overall layout and presentation for it could do with some work. The biggest thing is that it just looks too squashed. Don't be afraid to space things out to try to make them more readable. I like your use of the arrows in the strategy tips section, but everything is so bunched up that you almost lose track of where one item stops and the next one starts. If it wasn't for the content being as good as it is then this would have been a 3-0 win to Michael. Once again, I'm not out to attack you personally, but having a guide with all the best info in the world is not worth much if you can't read it.

Sigh, I guess all hope is already lost. Oh, well, it was fun while it lasted. A premature congratulations to MTincher from me.

In my defense, after I made my entry I realized that I was insane and totally picked the wrong guide. Oh well, maybe next year (though I plan on being prolific by then).

Combat analysis :

JJ vs. Lego : Decently close, but Legomondo seemed to know what he was talking about...and provided it in quite a bit of detail. Plus, what were JJ's last updates about? Seems like it wasn't worth mentioning...

Rock vs. namod : From ASCII art(even if the top wasn't his) to alignment, spelling and understandability, Rock simply drove namod into the ground. Though the header bars of namod's sections may have been intended to look nice, I found them to be more annoying and large "because I can"-type ASCII.

MT vs. Syonyx : Close, but Syonyx's FAQs had several errors, including headers that did not extend to the end of the text...

Sigh, I guess all hope is already lost.

No it's not. This is the group stage of the contest. You will have 3 rounds against all te other emmbers in your group. The two highest point scoring positions after three round will advance into the knockout stage.

Don't give up hope after just one match.
