Right then, with the opening match of the Non-Prolific FAQ Writers Tourney only a weekend away, it's about the right time for me to unveil a new system of voting.

OK, rather than simply posting a vote for the best FAQer in each match, you will now have 3 "points" to distribute between the competitors. This might sound initially rather complicated, but it really is very simple:

If you feel "FAQ A" is a great deal better than "FAQ B", you should distribute the points in the manner:

"FAQ A" 3 - "FAQ B" 0

If, however, you feel "FAQ A" is only marginally better than "FAQ B", you should distribute the points in this way:

"FAQ A" 2 - "FAQ B" 1

... and so on and so forth. Hopefully, this particular system will negate the need for abstaining during the more evenly-fought matches. Also, because of the varying degrees of point distribution, it will become very easy to weed out any spam voters/voters who have not actually read the competitors' FAQs.

OK, any questions? I'd like to point out now that anyone not conforming to this voting method will have their votes discounted from the final tally.

Thanks for taking the time to read this,

-Rich

What happens if you've become prolific right before the tournament? Does it matter?

Well, I would advise such a writer to not add any FAQs to their CRP which would take them over the limit. Strictly speaking, I would have to kick them off, but if it's only a matter of a few KB, I'll let it slide.

Well in my sig you can see for yourslef, but isn't it to become prolific you have to breah 1512KB or something like that. And anyways, I've submitted images as well, which shouldn't count as guides. So in the end I have, 1399KB, so am I still in?

I like this system, more simplistic than some people who go overboard (5-10 points), yet balanced enough to add an element of Stratego. Let's just hope the voter turnout is plenty.

According to the official rules at the site, you only need to be non-prolific by a certain date, one that has passed, in order to be in the tournament. If you become prolific after that date, including now, you can still be in it.

*bumps*

Well, the tourney kicks off proper tomorrow, so I thought I'd better make this new system painfully obvious once on the eve of the first match, so there can be no excuses.

Richard, you do realise that the two first round links that show the 8 groups don't work, don't you?

Thanks, bmtaylor. The dodgy link(s) have been rectified. Hopefully it all works properly now.

The only portion that doesn't work now is the 'Special Thanks' link, but I doubt very much that it is going to affect the running of the contest.

Can you tell I'm trying to keep this bumped >B^D
