so they never had gollywogs in Australia? I am constantly surprised at how words can change meanings from one country to the next.

fasinating, a quick google search does reveal two entirely seperate meanings. Well if you wish to know why I was confused, you can find the Uk meaning in this handy online UK/USA slang dictionary

falsehead: Having looked over your DBZ: B2 guide, I notice you have made more than just a few typos.
Argh! That didn't come out properly. I meant to say "there are a few typos", not there are more than just a few typos". Sorry. :)
BTW Kain ,that's fair enough. I'm aware of the Romaji names, but it just seemed like they were a little off. Nevermind.
And lastly Steve, considering how you've NEVER been here, how on earth would you know how people down here reacted to the word "wog"? --- THE most comprehensive Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 guide on the net: http://faqs.ign.com/articles/446/446326p1.html |

Not to butt in, but perhaps he asked Karpah...?

meh, I didn't want to start an argument, I was just pointing out why I was genuinely abit shocked to see someone describe themselves in such a manner, when the term is, over here anyway a very racially offensive one.

I thought of that. Thw word "wog" is still somewhat offensive here. I have several friends who could be described as "wogs", and if anyone ever called them one, the person would get their arses kicked.
Then again, watching "Pizza", the best show on TV, I can't be too sure anymore... ;) --- THE most comprehensive Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 guide on the net: http://faqs.ign.com/articles/446/446326p1.html |

Yeah, some people of whatever background who would fit under the description of "wog" (I'm not calling anyone one, though), don't mind calling themselves one. I guess it's just like rappers going around calling themselves "******s", I guess.
It's only not offensive to a few of the younger generation. In general, I'd say adults still take a lot of offence from being called one. I can only go by what my friends tell me though. --- THE most comprehensive Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 guide on the net: http://faqs.ign.com/articles/446/446326p1.html |

oh yers Masumane3, I forgot to respond to your other post about my DBZ2guide. Yeah, I was getting into DBZ a couple of years ago and alot of alt. spellings were floating about the net etc (in fact some VCD/DVDS I have alternate between subbing Saiya-jin as Saiyen or Saiyan). So I added Saiyen to my Word dictionary, now of course the general consensus is that its Saiyan, so I have started to change it to stop the trickle of emails.
You can put the Frieza/Freiza down to my blind spot where it comes to i's and e's =P

Heh, I know what you mean. I have a lot of "ei"'s where it should be "ie", and vice versa. ;D --- THE most comprehensive Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 guide on the net: http://faqs.ign.com/articles/446/446326p1.html |

hey masumane3, you checked out those boxsets of DBZ subbed dvds out now? You get about 30 episodes per box. I tell you, they are pretty well subbed MOST of the time but some episodes seem to be done on crack. In one they manage no less than FOUR different spellings of Krillin's name.

No, I haven't. I'm still thinking of getting the dubbed episodes packs, as well as the Neon Genesis collection and Cowboy Bebop series one. --- THE most comprehensive Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 guide on the net: http://faqs.ign.com/articles/446/446326p1.html |

Actually, it's "Freeza", but the terrible dub made it "Frieza", so it really is neither that or "Freiza"... --- IGN Guides - http://guides.ign.com/ Project(s) - Headhunter: Redemption (Soon - LifeLine) |

I've seen it spelled like that. But when I work in my guides, I have it spelt the way it's spelt in the game, or the next closest thing. For example, for my B1 guide, he is known as Mr. Satan in my version. In B2, he is known as Hercule, so I listed him as Hercule to avoid confusion. --- THE most comprehensive Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 guide on the net: http://faqs.ign.com/articles/446/446326p1.html |
